The album's title may sound like something you'd find on the cocktail menu on TGI Friday, but it comes from a painting by surrealist Frida Kahlo. The cover features Delacroix's romantic depiction of the spirit of revolution, Liberty Leading the People Over the Barricades. Meanwhile, singer Chris Martin recently stormed out of a puff-piece newspaper interview, declaring "we don't care if we sell a million less records".
This parting shot proves telling about the actual scale of reinvention that Vida la Vida offers. Selling a million fewer than that hardly constitutes throwing commercial considerations to the wind in favour of a bafflingly abstruse artistic statement.
Notice is thus served that we may not be Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Look Up To The Sky (CD) with The Faust Tapes here. Such thoughts are underlined by opener Life In Technicolor. It starts as a Kraftwerkish instrumental, before the arrival of drums, guitars and a woah-oh chorus suitable for singing en masse in a sports stadium. Indeed, there are moments during Viva la Vida where you feel impelled to take Coldplay aside and explain to them that there's more to reinventing Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Look Up To The Sky (CD) sound than Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Look Up To The Sky (CD) Brian Eno, coming up with some enigmatic song titles and telling people you've reinvented your sound: you are actually supposed to change your music as well.
Chris Martin Coldplay. This is a new addition to the bubble necklace collection. Vintage watch faces are the "in" thing these days and this is my rendition of those much loved watch parts. Sandwiched between a glass bubble are vintage watch face images where I have added glitter and inked the edges to give it that time worn appearance. On the reverse side of the bubble are vintage book pages text.
This circle pendant measures 30mm and has been silver soldered and then I have used a patina to give it that…. There aren't enough stars to rate this cd!!!!!!! This isn't a bad album overall--Coldplay keeps with their trademark style, but the vast majority of Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Look Up To The Sky (CD) tracks are unremarkable and as another reviewer stated, mostly just full of noise. Sadly, Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Look Up To The Sky (CD), constant listens to this Viva La Vida album only further confirmed that I could only stand of the tracks for casual listening.
Of course I just may need to listen to it few more times. It seemed on their other albums that there were a few songs that stuck out and you liked immidately which I have not found on this one. However this group is one of my top repeaters in my cd collection and I have over a thousand cd's.
Not only that they are one of only ten bands that I have every cd of, right up there with Pink Floyd and Led Zep. The musice is so diffternt that in certian moods I reach for it often. Doesn't hurt that my grilfriend likes them too. I'm hoping that few more rounds with this will have me grabing it more often. A Long-Awaited Album "Britons like a dose of rock band Coldplay to help them fall asleep" - a survey from hotel chain Travelodge found, according to a very recent Reuters note published early April this year.
Not that good I bought the cd because my 4 year old heard the song Viva La Vida on the radio and loved it. Awesome Such a great cd by a awesome band!
