The making of the videos are explained to the viewers by In Your Room - Depeche Mode - The Videos 86>98 (VHS) band. It also contailns 3 short films. I really enjoyed seeing the way the band members progressed and evolved. Although Dave's past drug problems are addressed, it doesn't focus soley on the negative.

Great buy of mixture of videos and band interviews. I was pleased with the selection of videos that was missing from my Depeche Mode Singles Collection. These were the videos that were missing. I was feeling like I was in a timewarp These were just as awesomely radical now as they were then. Love this band The songs are great, the sound is great though as someone mentioned, the mix is 2 channel stereo, which is fine with me since I don't have a prologic receiver, but I digress.

I also enjoyed the inteviews that bookend the videos--they contain many interesting details from the band members and producers.

Check it out! Disc one is already known by everybody. Disc two contains rare videos which I like them most. But the best of disc two are the EPK, the interviews. The best one for me is the corresponding to SOFD songs of faith and devotionseeing Dave in a very religious situation, seeing a happy-girl entering Martin's room, etc.

I like it very much, but I still miss the videos, and it is very difficult to get that VHS tape. I bought this as a gift for a friend and she raved about it.

She is a die-hard Depeche Mode fan and I can't hear enough about how much she has enjoyed this. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews. Better than "The Best Of" video collection, In Your Room - Depeche Mode - The Videos 86>98 (VHS), but only as I prefer their more recent work. It has been quite obvious reading and listening to their interviews, that they were quite embarrassed, and sometimes ashamed of the earlier attempts to put pictures to their music.

It wasn't until the talented and somewhat quirky Anton Corbjin came on the scene, that they started to enjoy the experience of video making. The videos are unusual and sometimes difficult to fathom, but allowing for that, they are still entertaining.

They certainly aren't MTV freindly videos, which is part of the appeal, its refreshing to have something quirky to watch, and as Anton comments on the documentary, he see's the music in his minds eye, and makes the video as he sees the song in his head.

The bands reaction to his idea of the King in the "Enjoy The Silence" video is quite amusing, Anton saying that he had to come back to the guys several times with the idea before they gave him the go ahead, mainly due to the fact that three of the band members, Martin, Andy and Alan, only had half a days work in order to complete the video. Little tit bits of information Which I haven't as yet found on the documentaries included on the albums are given in a reasonably long documentary with all band members and production staff interviewed.

The second disc In Your Room - Depeche Mode - The Videos 86>98 (VHS) a little more restrained, its a shame as loads of older videos could have been included on this, but here you are given a rather dark and haunting video for "One Caress" which is moody and rather obscure, but does justice to the interesting chemical reactions going on inside Martin Gore's head! I think its about time that they released a new collection, let the fans decide which videos they think stink, and which they like the most.

The more recent work by other directors has breathed new life into the In Your Room - Depeche Mode - The Videos 86>98 (VHS) as a visual entity, I mention the video for "Wrong" and "Fragile Tension" as an example If they can vary the style then the video collection may not resemble more of a "Best Of Anton Corbijn" Collection, and more of a "Best Of Mode" Still a good buy though Depeche Mode artist pic. The band have been highly influential in the electronic dance music scene, especially synthpop, techno and trance, in part due to their innovative work, recording techniques and use of sampling.

Their most successful album is arguably 's Violator, which reached the 2 position in the UK, 7 in the US, and sold over 8 million copies worldwide. The band has released a long series of high-charting singles over their three-decades long career. Enjoy the Silence is their most recognized song and is one of the most covered songs in history. The original line-up In Your Room - Depeche Mode - The Videos 86>98 (VHS) Dave Gahan, Martin L.

Gore, Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke. Alan Wilder joined the group initially in January as a live keyboardist but became an official member in December He left mid to fully concentrate on his Recoil project and the band continued as a trio.

Soon after the formation of Composition of Sound, Clarke and Fletcher switched to synthesizers. Dave Gahan joined the band in after Clarke heard him perform at a local scout hut jam session, singing to a rendition of David Bowie's "Heroes", and Depeche Mode were born.

While playing a live gig at the Bridge House in Canning Town, the band were approached by Daniel Miller, the founder of Mute Records, who proposed them a verbal contract. The result was their first single Dreaming of Me, recorded in December and released in Februaryreaching number 57 in the UK charts and followed soon by a real contract with Mute.
