I am still a big fan after all these years. This cd is there best work ever. What's not to love - it's Bread. Arrived in a timely manner, LP), and the CD quality is as I had expected great. The album was "Baby I'ma want you.
So this is it Bread fans. The 70's really were Sweet Surrender - Bread - Anthology Of Bread (Vinyl SOME of the time. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews. Just received this today from Amazon. I had this a long time ago and I think someone pinched it. What a talented band they were. Lovely voices, good lyrics, good music and good looking, music which is still as popular today, unlike a lot of these so called "boy wonder bands" who certainly won't be around for long.
Jimmy Griffin died of cancer aged 61 and Larry Knechtel of a heart attack aged 69, too young to die, and the only surviving members are David Gates and Robb Royer. Many people have always thought that "Everything I Own" was a love song about a broken romance, but David Gates wrote it in memory of his father to whom he was very close. Beautiful lyrics and one of my most favourite songs.
Every time I hear that particular track, which is on an advert now, I have to play it later. Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. If you want one CD to represent 20 decent tracks of Bread, then this will do you nicely, as all the hits are on it and many more including Aubrey, a lovely song LP) is inexplicably missing on some other compliations.
This CD appears to be AAD, ie not digitally remastered, however I have listened very carefully and I class the sound quality as excellent. I suppose if I wanted to be really critical, there may be very faint tape hiss say at the start of some tracks, but you will need good ears and HiFi plus a high volume setting to even notice it.
There are digitally remastered compilations available, but they may not have such a good track listing. I own this CD and can thoroughly recommend it, great melodic music to relax to after a hard day. Stunning Album from a great band.
I took the advice of one of your other reviewers and bought this instead of "The sound of Bread" - yes it is lovely to hear all these great songs again. The notes warn that as the recordings were all analogue they may not be as good digitally, but I certainly couldn't tell the difference. They were a really talented group who could really sing. Wonderful harmonies - but still so sad! Jumps in one place, rather disappointed.
Load more international reviews. A nostalgic look back to the 70's soft rock. This album has most if not all the best-known works of Bread, the rest are less memorable but might grow on me.
Sit back relax at the end of a hard day, and let the wonderful voice of David Gates and melodic guitars ease your stress away. Great quality compilation of some of the best of Bread's popular tracks Brings back memories. This is truly an anthology to buy. Not only the famous tracks like "Make It With You" "If" "Diary" and all the other hits but also a substantial collection of other tracks that would have been hits but were run over by the 'A' sides.
Not just for collectors and Bread buffs but also for the casual admirers. I am very ambivalent about this record. I am not sure that all the songs there are, should have been there. The Guitare Man was my song of the 70's by some others, please!! I bought this because my vinyl version the best of Bread got damaged. I wasn't expecting miracles but to my surprise the sound quality of this CD is actually very good.
A very underrated group, worth a listen if you have not heard them. If you already like Bread this is a fantastic value compilation. This is an excellent value cd for a Bread fan, or for anyone who wants a best of, of them.
It has got all the important songs as far as hits go and they are in their original versions or from the Lp version of the time. In other words they are LP) recordings of the songs not some s re recorded rubbish. Also the price, or value for money of this cd is excellent.
