Chris C likes this. Location: NYC. I loved this album from first listen. I still listen to it! Very good album. I've always liked it. I remember I bought the single when it came out before the record and was kind of put-off by the lightweight production but as usual the quality of the songs shine through.

The two Beach Boys remakes kinda weaken the record. Not that they are bad, exactly, but they give the impression of a lack of new material which couldn't be farther from the truth; Brian had that mountain of songs he recorded with Andy Paley in the mid's laying around. I think Joe Thomas does a good job of getting the best out of Brian.

He makes his vocals sound good and makes the music sound up to date. And I still sometimes hear "Your Imagination" playing in malls and supermarkets, so that's pretty good too, eh? As stated above, "Cry" is Let Him Run Wild - Brian Wilson - Imagination (Cassette the price of admission.

People love to say "but Brian didn't write lyrics" but here is a song credited solely to Brian with a sensitive, mature lyric. He can write them when he wants to. And this was a song that had a lot of personal meaning for him.

Another highlight is "Happy Days" and, oh look, it's also credited Let Him Run Wild - Brian Wilson - Imagination (Cassette to Mr. Stick that in your pipe, people. But the song ends with wave upon wave of positivity and optimism. There's the piano riff from "Holidays" thrown in there for good measure. A Smile reference! Only too him 32 years of carrying it around before he figured out where to put it. Brian sure is cleaning out the riff closet on this one.

Brian hits those high notes and nearly sounds 21 again. Again, it's great to see this fine song finally get released in some form. The woodwinds continue to provide this album with a unique sonic identity.

Most people point to "Sunshine" as throwaway but I kinda like it. Sure, it is cheese, but it tastes pretty good. A wacky mash up of island getaway and Bavarian woodwinds. I like it, Let Him Run Wild - Brian Wilson - Imagination (Cassette. The title cut has become a semi-classic. When played live by Brian and band it really cooked.

Taylor Mills would get to do a little showboating during the choruses. It's a quality composition. The Paley credit makes me wonder if Brian recorded a version with Paley which never got booted. And is it just me or is there a high-pitched frequency running through this song, like a defective air conditioner running in the studio or something? I always notice it. Always dedicated to Carl in concert, lyrically it doesn't really sound like it's about a brother, but whatever.

It's a nice song, and Brian sounds great singing it on the album. So are the Beach Boys covers. There's nothing on this album that gets on my nerves. I can play it from start to finish.

It's a hole in my BW vinyl collection that needs to get plugged. Daniel PlainviewJun 24, Location: north. ArkoffsJun 24, One more thought. I play "Imagination" and think, "Yeah, this is the guy who did 'Pet Sounds. DmitriKaramazov likes this.

Love this album - my favourite is "Lay Down Burden", although I prefer the version on "Live at the Roxy Theatre" as the studio version is a little over-produced for my tastes. Location: Easton, MD. Hearing the line "another bucket of sand" shot this album in the heart for me before I was three minutes into it.

It just did. ZackJun 24, Location: Chicagoland, near Pepperland. I like the album and have the CD single also. Artist: Brian Wilson. Album: Imagination. When I watch you walk with him Tears fill my eyes And when I heard you talk with him I couldn't stand his lies And now before he tries it I hope you realize it Let him run wild he don't care Let him run wild he'll find out Let him run wild he don't care I guess you know I waited for you girl He'll do the same with other girls As he did to you Then one day he'll run into one That's going Let Him Run Wild - Brian Wilson - Imagination (Cassette hurt him too Before he makes you over I'm going to take you over Let him run wild he don't care Let him run wild he'll find out Let him run wild he don't care I guess you know I waited for you girl All the dreams you shared with him You might as well forget Because I know a truer love And that's what you'll get And now that you don't need him Well he can have his freedom girl Let him run wild he don't care Let him run wild he'll find out Let him run wild he don't care I guess you know I waited for you girl.

  1. Lay Down Burden Lyrics: So many years / Spent runnin' away / How many times I wished I could stay / Too much emotion / A hole in my heart / Feelin' alone since we've been apart and / If I had the.
  2. Imagination is a warm, pure re-entry from rock's greatest prodigal son, Brian Wilson. Graduating from the emotive thunder and pathos of his youth, Imagination feels like a musical sigh of relief coming from a man whose life has been anything but easy and good. The best and most convincing proof is in his voice, which has metamorphosed from the harsh, cracked whine of recent efforts, into a smooth, effortless .

  4. Let him run wild he don't care Let him run wild he'll find out Let him run wild he don't care I guess you know I waited for you girl He'll do the same with other girls As he did to you Then one day he'll run into one That's going to hurt him too Before he makes you over I'm going to take you over Let him run wild he don't care Let him run wild.
  5. "Let Him Run Wild" does absolutely nothing to improve upon the classic original. But happily, "Keep an Eye on Summer" makes the original cut seem like a sprout compared to the blooming flower of Imagination. In the process, the "let's keep in touch" sentiment becomes a more universal statement to not waste your time on this earth. Beautiful.
  6. Jun 24,  · On the occasion of Brian's recent birthday and seeing "Love and Mercy" (and if you haven't seen it, go. Now.), I've been revisiting his album, "Imagination." It's one I've always liked, but -- in part, no doubt, because of the movie -- it really struck me what a beautiful and brave album .
  7. As his second official solo album, Imagination is a stronger record than its predecessor. Brian Wilson is singing better and his writing is more assured, filled with gorgeous arrangements that others may replicate but never quite match.6/
