It is chock full of songs I love, I suspect mostly because it was played frequently when I was a child. The harmonies are rich and there are a wide selection of songs. This album released Puff, the Magic Dragon, a true classic. If you are just starting to explore folk music or the trio, this is a good place to start listening to their music. My parents had this album back Album) the 60s and I used to listen to it a lot as a kid and knew every word.
Years ago, I bought a CD, all the words came back and I could imagine myself laying on the floor by the record player, looking at the cover and wishing I looked like Mary.
I kept it in my car, which unfortunately was stolen along with that CD. It's one I will always have in my collection. Besides the classic, "Puff the Magic Dragon," there's a bit of melancholy mixed in with the upbeat, from some of the top folk storytellers of the day.
This was the well-worn vinyl Tiny Sparrow - Peter discovered in my parents record cabinet. It introduced me to folk music before the genre was supplanted by the singer-songwriters raised on it. This song just popped into my head the other day while canoeing on the Hudson River amongst some really big ships Excited to share this music with the next generations! I have listened to this album since my teenage years, I am 69, and it has never felt worn or dated. One of the epochal albums of the sixties, Moving is the one of the trinity of first albums recorded and issued by Peter, Paul and Mary.
Not a loser of a song in the collection, and many are almost too beautiful for words. A terrific snapshot of of early sixties zeitgeist, and a rather sad reminder of how much more innocent and optimistic we were then. Remastering has been sensitively done: Not only are the performances wonderful, but so is the sound. You will find accurate, Paul And Mary* - (Moving) (Vinyl, in-tune!
These are wonderful three-part vocal arrangements including the enormously sentimental 'Puff, the Magic Dragon' supported with acoustic guitars. This album was one of the Album) to be recorded to take advantage of the then-new stereo effect. The result is a very transparent recording that could show flaws, but instead highlights the high performance level of these three then-young singers.
