There are very few individuals who command the respect of dub aficionados greater than "The Dubmaster" himself, King Tubby. On Tubby's venerable release Dub From The Roots, he introduces the "Shalom Dub", a method of mixing flying cymbals with horns in what he describes as "going in and out in a dub way".

One of the standout cuts, "Iyahta" explores Tubby's use of deep electric basslines to evoke a melodic calmness in the listener, while "Mine Field" and "Hijack The Barber" bring the listener back with the cavernous echoes of stabbing guitars, horns, and cymbals. From what I understand, these tracks are literally the first dub tracks ever created, which is what the other reviewer is talking about.

I own the vinyl version of this album and it's fantastic. Between Tubby and Scientist, my turntable can spin all day. One person found this helpful. The sound is great!

There is not a single track which is bad, dull or mediocre. Every piece is a gem and this is one of those albums that you can listen to all the way through over and over/5(19).
