I had this on vinyl years ago, and I really admired Jons' compositional skills on this project. I recommend this for both Deep Purple collectors as well as for the person who is looking for something completely different to listen to.
This is an interesting piece of music given full musical treatment by Lords bandmates and acquaintances the orchestra sounds a little more committed although the music is written apparently their was not much love lost first time around with the concerto for group and orchestra at Royal Albert Hall the remix is outstanding a good listen.
I have it on the loop in my car. Take off the wing, and using a Dremel with a small drill bit, drill a small hole on the side of the fuselage as pictured below. Using a small round file you can smooth it out and slightly adjust the shape and location as necessary. Take the Gomini 13 - DG (8) - Gomini Suite (CDr pushrod wire and bend an L shape on one Gomini 13 - DG (8) - Gomini Suite (CDr, and slip the pushrod into the carbon tube.
Position the tube so that the end is 20mm from the L bend, and glue with super thin CA from both ends of the tube. The end with the L bend and 20mm exposed pushrod connects Gomini 13 - DG (8) - Gomini Suite (CDr the wing control horns. Thread the pushrods through the fuselage and out the hole at the side of the fuselage. Hook the L bends to the wing control horns, and bolt the wing on the fuselage. Make two small spacers about mm high, I usually make this out of scrap balsa.
This is used to offset the flaperons while the servos are centred. Offsetting is used on the flaperons because you need very little up deflection, but need a lot of down deflection for brakes. Connect your flaperon servos to either your receiver or a servo tester and make sure they are centred. Mark the hole location on the pushrod with a marker. Remove the wing and pushrods from the fuselage, and bend the wires at the marked spot. Connect the pushrods back onto the servos, and put on a drop of super thin CA as pictured.
This makes sure there is absolutely no free play between the pushrod and servo arm, and also creates a keeper so the pushrod does not work itself out of the hole. Using a drill bit, drill two or three holes in the back of the tail pylon on the fuselage. Extend the holes so they form a long opening as pictured. Sand the end of the boom with sandpaper, and clean thoroughly.
The vertical stabiliser will be glued to this later. Using a large drill bit in your Dremel tool, clear out the foam core inside the connector tube on the vertical stabiliser. This tube goes over the end of the boom for an easy and accurate fit.
Mask the control surface of both tails where the control horn will go as pictured. Mark out the middle line, then mark out where the control horns will go. The front of the control horn goes directly to the hingeline on the rudder, and is 4mm away from the hingeline on the elevator. Cut along the middle line where the control horn will go using a sharp knife, remove the masking tape, and widen the slot using a fine file.
Make sure the horns fit snugly into the slots. Sand control horns and clean with rubbing alcohol, and glue into the slots with 15 minute epoxy. Bend the springs for the tails as shown with the centre section at 40mm long. At the completion of the previous Gemini flight, the program still had not demonstrated that an astronaut could work easily and efficiently outside the spacecraft. However, their successes were limited due to a lack of proper restraints and insufficient techniques.
The main purpose of the Gemini XII mission was to find and test new ways to work outside of a spacecraft safely and effectively. Two more stand-up EVAs also went smoothly, as did the by-now routine rendezvous and docking with an Agena which was done "manually" using the onboard computer and charts when a rendezvous radar failed.
The climb to a higher orbit, however, was canceled because of a problem with the Agena booster. During orbital injection, the GATV engine experienced a drop in turbopump speed lasting about 2. After this, pump performance returned to normal. Telemetry data indicated erratic pump speeds, but engine performance did not reflect this. The anomaly was later found as a brief 30 psi drop in the thrust chamber of the rocket. The mission had planned for an orbital maneuver into a higher orbit but the drop in pressure raised some concerns.
Following Gemini 12's reentry and during the GATV's 63rd orbit, they attempted to fire the propulsion system, but a stuck fuel valve prevented engine start from occurring. It was suspected that a turbopump bearing failure caused the anomalous conditions during orbital injection, followed by heating and melting of pump components. The inability of ground controllers to start the engine during the 63rd orbit was possibly due to melted or loose debris blocking the fuel valve and preventing its operation.
The telemetry data falsely reporting erratic pump speed was concluded to be debris being knocked around and affecting the data probes. Gemini 12 was designed to perform rendezvous and docking with the Agena target vehicle, to conduct three extra-vehicular activity EVA operations, to conduct a tethered stationkeeping exercise, to perform docked maneuvers using the Agena propulsion system to change orbit, and demonstrate an automatic reentry.
When Gemini 12 was being planned, one of the possibilities raised was the potential for the flight to be run in conjunction with the first Apollo missionwhich had been tentatively scheduled for the last quarter of By Maydelays in making Apollo ready for flight just by itself, and the extra time needed to incorporate compatibility with the Gemini, made that impractical.
