The album finally received its debut in in the Misfits Box Set. Static Age was originally slated for release on CD in but delayed. A small percentage of these posters were given to the Misfits and the majority destroyed by Caroline Records.

The tape was in great shape, having been stored in a temperature-controlled environment for all those years. With the exception of a few minimal overdubs, the songs were performed and recorded live to tape in the studio. Only the stand-alone release of the album sold separately includes the 3 previously unmixed, unreleased tracks. The limited edition vinyl pressing released by Caroline included 3, pcs pressed on black vinyl, Album), 2, pcs pressed on red vinyl, 1, pcs pressed on yellow vinyl and pcs pressed on purple vinyl.

Each were randomly inserted into sleeves, shrink wrapped and shipped to stores. Jim, along with co-founders Jerry Only and Glenn Danzig. This was the catalyst for the legal battle resolved in in which ALL former members began, and continue to receive royalties for their performances and participation on Misfits recordings circa and Jerry Only was ultimately awarded the Album) rights to record and perform as the Misfits. Legend has it that as a result of not cleaning the stampers during the color switch in the pressing plant, a small percentage of the 1, colored vinyl LPs rumored to be 16 pcs include various shades of pink.

Caroline had continually reissued the album in LP and cassette format since its debut. After continuing to grow as a band, the Misfits decided to scrap the MSP sessions entirely.

Originally slated for release in on the self-run Plan 9 label, the album was not pressed or released due to lack of financing. Limited quantities of LP labels were printed without records or sleeves.
